How reducing-balance amortisation works

Unlike flat-rate schemes that charge interest on the original principal throughout the tenure, Shreeyansh Edufin computes interest strictly on the declining principal balance at the close of each monthly billing cycle.

Three strategies to reduce total interest outgo

  • Make Periodic Part-Prepayments

Directing annual bonuses or surplus business cash flows toward principal prepayment after 6 EMIs significantly shortens remaining loan tenure.

  • Select the Shortest Comfortable Tenure

While a shorter tenure carries a slightly higher monthly installment, it substantially reduces cumulative interest paid over the life of the loan.

  • Step Up Repayments as Income Grows

Increasing your annual repayment allocation by even 5–10% accelerates principal recovery during the early years of amortisation.

What is an amortisation schedule?
An amortisation schedule is a complete chronological table detailing how each monthly EMI payment is allocated toward interest expense and principal reduction, alongside the closing principal balance after each installment.
Why is the interest component higher in the initial months?
Because interest in a reducing-balance loan is calculated on the outstanding principal balance, the interest portion is highest at the start of the loan and decreases progressively with every EMI paid.
Does the EMI figure include one-time processing fees?
No. The monthly EMI comprises strictly principal and interest repayment. One-time processing fees and applicable GST are disclosed separately in the Sanction Letter and Schedule of Charges.
How can I export the repayment schedule for my records?
Click the "Export CSV" button above the amortisation table to download a spreadsheet containing the complete month-by-month repayment ledger.
